If I buy Pro Support, do they know about the soil assessment (section 180)?

My taxes were amended for 2024. Would I need to upload an amended return? Also, I had a soil assessment done which offsets my taxes for this year (section 180), and I'm not sure if free tax usa experts with the pro account are familiar with this? My taxes are a bit complicated but I do have the returns from last year which I could upload. I'm just hesitate because of all the different areas I would need to cover.

    Hello,

When you start a new account, you have the option to upload a prior year tax return. It must be the Form 1040 and attached forms. Use a PDF. If you have the "As Amended" Form 1040, that will work too.

IRS Section 180 allows taxpayers in the business of farming to immediately deduct, rather than capitalize, the costs of fertilizer, lime, and soil conditioners.

Soil assessment costs, such as soil sample testing, are considered ordinary and necessary business expenses for a farm and should be reported as "Other Expenses" on Line 32 of Form 1040 Schedule F. These costs are generally deducted in the year they are incurred. See the Miscellaneous Expenses section of Common Expenses for Farming Income (Schedule F).
