Different localities on my w2 forms

Hello I just wanted to see if this is something I need to correct or if its right as is.

I have two jobs both located in the same county but different from the one I live in. My full time job has my locality name as Boone, the county I live in, but the other w2 has the locality name as Marion, the county I work in.

Should they not both be the same or is it because I have the second job listed as my second job on my tax forms, is why its like that? This is the second year its been like that and it doesn't seem correct but I'm not sure. But if it isn't right who would I have to talk to about correcting that?

    Hi Prill,

Do you happen to live in Ohio? Boone and Marion counties are both in Ohio. When you are a resident of one county, you are required to report all your income to that county to pay taxes on it. You'll need to file an SD 100 return for Boone. See that section of the State menu.

Generally, you are only required to file a nonresident county (school district) return if you have to pay more taxes to that county. See the School District page for more information.
