How do I file a retirement distribution that was paid in 12/25 and rolled over in 01/26?

My husband received a 401K distribution check from his old job at the end of 2025. We cashed it and rolled it over into an IRA in January of this year. It was completed within 60 days of receiving the check. How do we file it correctly?

    Hello M_M,

You should have received a 1099-R reporting the distribution. You will want to enter it into our software as it is reported on your 1099-R. After you have entered it, you will be asked a couple of questions. The first one should ask if it is a Roth Conversion. You will say No.

The next question will ask if this is a rollover. You will want to say Yes. It will then ask if you rolled over all of your distribution to the new qualified account.. If you did, check the box. If not, enter the amount of the distribution that you rolled over to new retirement account in the space provided.
