Hi. If I entered my IRS PIN here, but now want a CPA to file for me, so how do I proceed with my CPA? Can the IRS PIN be used by him, or how to fix it so he can file for me? Thank you.

(I have not "submitted" my tax return yet electronically from FREETAXUSA because I have to file a paper return due to having a Form 1116 and Schedule B. I have too many unresolved questions about that so would like to hire a CPA now.) Thank you.

Are you referring to the 5-digit self-select e-filing PIN, or the 6-digit IRS Identity Protection PIN? If it's the former, you don't need it for paper filing, and if a CPA e-files it, they don't need it either. If it's the latter, it must be included if anyone filing a return - electronically or on paper.

    Hello Melba#SAU,

Yes, if you haven't submitted anything yet, the CPA should be able to use your IP PIN (that is the 6 digit one the IRS gives you each year if you have signed up for it). The other self-select PIN (5 digits that you choose) will only be official once you submit your returns.
