Refund same as taxes paid
Should I stop having the taxes taken out since I seem to be getting a refund of the taxes I paid??

In most situations, if your W-4 is filled out correctly, you shouldn't be getting large refunds. The goal of the W-4 is to get you as close to "break even" as possible. If you haven't updated your W-4 a while, you may want to do so and give it to your employer.
