HSA and California

I'm currently enrolled in an HSA from my employer but its not invested so its not making any interest, its just cash sitting in my account. I do see that's its made only 5 cents in the last 6 months of 2024.
When filling out my CA taxes for 2024 I'm at the screen where its asking for any interest, dividends or capital gains the HSA account has made. Doing some research it looks like California wants to know these amounts so they get taxed.
Am I correct in leaving these boxes on the form blank?
Thank you

California doesn't recognize HSAs. Can you just put zeroes in the boxes? (5 cents rounds to zero.)

Hi, how can I find the screen to fill out interest, dividends or capital gains for HSA? I didn't see it completing CA tax. I didn't contribute to HSA this year. I just have one I contributed in the past that continues to generate dividends. Many thanks!

Hello Kat2025
The FreeTaxUSA software is very sensitive to add boxes to your CA State input pages in this situation. Because you didn't contribute to your HSA through your employer or with after tax contributions, the reporting boxes for Interest, dividends, and capital gains/losses within your existing HSA account will not show up in your CA adjustments screen.
We are unable to support the CA requirement for reporting HSA earnings when you don't have any 2024 contributions to HSA reported on your 2024 Federal Form 8889.
