FreeTaxUSA not asking about Health Coverage

I'm helping my partner fill out her taxes on here, and it's not asking the question regarding whether she had Health Coverage all year or not.

I just filled out my taxes and after asking if I had a 1095 A form, it then asked if I had coverage all year. After saying yes I did, that affected my overall amount owed. Would anyone know why it's not asking this 2nd question?

It looks like if you answered 'yes' to having a 1095-A it will probably change your amount owed, you can read about that here: https://www.coverme.gov/learn/faqs/1095-a-faq#:~:text=Health%20coverage%20and%20your%20taxes&text=You%20may%20owe%20taxes%20if,when%20you%20file%20your%20taxes.

If they had private insurance you'd have to enter a 1095-c, but this year you're not really required to enter those since your employer would have reported it on your W2.

No, sorry I think I wasn't clear. Both she and I have a 1095-B. We both selected "No" to having a 1095-A.

However, for me the next page asked if I had insurance coverage all year, part of the year, or not at all. This page is not coming up for her at all. Is there something on her W2 that could be causing this?

Huh, well below is what I found on FreeTaxUSA's FAQs - and on your W2 box 12 is where employers report insurance - so maybe see what has been input there.

"How to use the information on the 1095-B

Form 1095-B provides information about your health coverage, including who was covered and when the coverage was in effect.

There is no longer a requirement to have health insurance coverage. There is no penalty for not having health insurance in 2024, so you don't need to enter your insurance coverage information from a Form 1095-B on your return."

Oh yes I do see that. Hm, that is strange that it asked me for this information though

Ok, we figured it out. It's a California State thing where it asks if you've been insured all year. So it wasn't right after asking about the 1095-A, it came towards the end of filling out
