What do you mean? Are you asking about how to file a return to get the refund you should be getting? Or something else? Please be more specific.

I wanted to know how I could get a refund as I paid the 14.99 to have my state taxes done but my federal and state returns were rejected.

    Hello Happy2717,

Sorry to hear your returns were rejected. This is not uncommon.

Whenever the IRS rejects the federal tax return, the state return is automatically rejected as well. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the state return.

The IRS provided you a reason why your federal return was rejected. Please review that information and make the correction. After you correct the error, proceed to Final Steps and transmit your returns again. When the IRS accepts the corrected federal return, your state return will automatically be filed as well.

If you need help determining why your federal return was rejected you may contact Support for help.

I appreciate you responding but was wondering if I could get a refund for trying to e-file my federal and state taxes that were rejected. I paid the 14.99 but in my attempt to correct the problem I still was rejected. I just was trying to get money back for trying to file my state returns.

Me and several of my friends use freetax USA and we received our federal refund, but not our state. It's about 10 of us and there is no reason for the delay. It was accepted 2/6/2025, why haven't we received our New Jersey state refund yet?

Once your return has been e-filed and accepted, we are not updated on the status of your refund. I recommend you and your friends check the status of your NJ tax refunds by using the following link: https://www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation/checkrefundstatus.shtml
