Amended Return Question
Hi, I am amending my 2024 return. My original return has been processed, but my refund is being held for income verification. When I go to amend, it asked me for my overpayment/refund received. I haven’t received the refund, but my return is processed, do I put $0? My refund after amendment would be $400 less than the original.

I would not amend your return until the original has been fully processed. That means resolving the income verification issue first. But don't wait past the due date (4/15) of the return.

Hi Kendra,
If your original return was never received by the IRS, then you should NOT be filing an amendment. An Amendment is only used to make corrections to a return the IRS has processed. I suggest you remove the amendment and find out what is causing the delay.
