I have bond premiums for 2025 of $300. $200 of that is for NC exempt bonds. Where do I enter this in the NC state return? I am a part hear resident, all that expense goes to NC.

    Hello S_E,

When you enter you form 1099 in the federal section, you will be asked if you have state tax exempt earnings. Make sure you first enter the amounts there. Then there may be some adjustments on the state section. Generally, we carry those calculations through to your state return for you.

Not all my bond premiums are for my state residence and I was a part time resident. The software very nicely walked me through every other number asking how much for each state, except the bond premium for NC.

the answer seems to be that NC doesn’t want this number

    Hello S_E,

When you file a part year resident of a state, you will have the option to allocate your income (bond premiums) to each state.

I would recommend contacting us directly from the Support center in your account. That way we can view your account and direct you to specific screens in the software if they are available to enter this.
