How can i file only state tax return?

in Filing my taxes

I need to be able to file only VA state returns online and not Federal. My federal is already filed and approved. I only need to file State returns (electronically) because paper in VA takes twice as long.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, FreeTaxUSA is not able to e-file a state return unless the federal return was also e-filed through the same FreeTaxUSA account. Since your federal return was filed elsewhere, our software can only prepare your Virginia return for you to print and mail.

    If you'd like to use FreeTaxUSA to prepare your VA return you'll need to mail it in. After completing your state return and paying for it, go to Final Steps and select the option to mail your return. You'll be prompted to print the federal return too, but since yours is already filed, you can simply ignore that and only mail the Virginia return.
