Typically, his taxes have been done by someone but I was hoping your program will make it easier on him if we do it with you. We are his guardians so we sign for him, his check is put into an ABLE account for his future. The information I would give you would be his W-2, his SSA-1099, Form 5498-QA ABLE Account contribution, his contribution to care info — rent and room and board. Earned income credit is included. Would you be able to do Federal and State with the above information. He lives in NJ and I am in Florida. I will provide Guardianship information as well.

By doing this with you, I will be able to sign as the guardian?

    Hi Vitja,

Yes, as a legal guardian, you can sign your son's tax return if he is a minor or incapacitated and unable to sign for himself. Sign his name in the signature space, followed by your signature, your relationship (e.g., guardian), and the phrase "parent/guardian for minor child.

Keep in mind that an e-filed return does not require a physical signature but requires an e-file signature which is generally the Prior Year's AGI.
