So what do I do?
Hey gang, Im sorta new to this tax thing so forgive my ignorance; I did the adult thing and did my state and fed taxes here on freetaxusa.
Both got accepted and my state return went direct to my bank acct a few days after. However I got an email from the irs.gov just today about how direct filing federal taxes is no longer an accepted option?
I didnt know this, why is it even an option to file federal directly if its no longer accepted?
Anyways....
Freetaxusa site says I should expect my fed refund by the 9th of March, possibly later... Do I amend my federal return and file again on the irs website, should I wait for a rejection letter, or are there other options? Thanks.

Hello lara97:
The IRS direct file program was started a few years ago and it began as a free, online pilot program where taxpayers in certain states could file their tax returns using this free, online service. For tax year 2024, the IRS expanded the direct file program to eligible taxpayers living in 25 states.
However, given the cost, the maintenance, and the limited number of taxpayers that used the service, the IRS has now ended the program. The letter you recently received from the IRS was most likely intended to alert you to the fact that the program has ended; however, it has nothing to do with the tax returns that you filed through FreeTaxUSA. Thus, there is no need to amend your recently filed tax return. Moreover, you can just wait for your tax return refund to arrive.
