    Hello Flowerchild55,

Yes, you can still file a state return even if you declined it when filing your federal return. Here’s how:

    1. Sign in to your account navigate under State > Your State Tax Returns
    2. Select your state return and proceed through the screen.
    3. Once you complete the state screens you'll proceed through the Final Steps tab
    4. If your federal return was already e-filed and accepted by the IRS, you can e-file your state return without re-filing the federal return.
    5. If your federal return was mailed, you’ll need to mail your state return.

Important limitation: FreeTaxUSA does not currently support the filing of trust tax returns (Form 1041). However, once you receive the Schedule K-1 after filing the Form 1041 elsewhere, you can include it with your tax return here. If you have already filed your federal return, entering trust information may cause complications. We recommend reaching out to our Support team from within your account so they can provide specific guidance based on your account status.

Thanks. I just did it! Good to know. I am the beneficiary of the trust . So filed a 1040 instead. Hopefully I should be good.
