Unable to e-file 2024 federal tax amendment

Hello there,

I e-filed my 2024 federal tax return using FreeTaxUSA but when I am trying to file an amendment, it only shows "Mail your amendment" and reads as: "Once you're done making corrections, skip to Final Steps section to file your return. The IRS no longer accepts e-filed amendments for 2024 returns, so we'll help you print and MAIL your amendment."

But with ref. to following link, IRS accepts e-file for amendments up to prior 2 years:

Can you please suggest if I am missing anything or it's some software glitch?

    Hello San,

    Most prior year(2024 or earlier) amended returns cannot be e-filed, they must be mailed when using our software.

    You may be able to e-file a 2023 or 2024 amendment if you have an Identity Protection PIN from the IRS. You can request an IP PIN from the IRS here:

    The IP PIN can be entered into the software in the MISC > Identity Protection PIN screen.
