I am attempting to file my taxes and I had a mini split system installed in my home as I wanted to be more energy efficient. However the company I went with sells them as a "package" and does not have an itemized break down of what each parts costs... So how do I determine the most expensive part if the company doesn't…
If my SO purchased new windows for our home but their name is not on the deed (and we are not married so filing seperatley) - are they able to get the tax credit? It appears the answer is no - but since it's on my home am I able to recieve the tax credit even though I technically didn't pay for the upgrade?
I live in an old house that is owned by a family member. I had purchased a new electric boiler and had it installed in 2024. Although I do not own the house, I currently live in it and it is regarded as my permanent residence. Would I still be able to qualify for a tax credit?
We built a new house in 2023. We paid extra for a heat pump. Can we amend our 2023 return to take advantage of the tax credit?
