How to figure out my total Federal Tax Paid
How do I figure out the total Federal tax I paid? It is supposed to be on line 63 on the 1040 form but mine 1040 is a short form and goes only to line 38.

Hi marymiryung,
How Form 1040 is formatted will depend on the year for which you are filing. For 2023, Form 1040 does only go to line 38, so you may not be looking at a short form. To see how much federal tax you paid, you'll want to refer to the Payments section of your return, which consists of lines 25-33, where your tax payments and refundable credits are reported.
Line 25 will show your federal income tax withholding.
Line 26 will show any estimated tax payments for the year and amounts applied from your prior year return.
Line 31 will show amounts from Schedule 3, which include other payments such as amounts paid with a request for extension to file.
Finally, your total payments (including any refundable credits) will show on Line 33.
