Can I take my last paycheck stub for December and file my taxes?

Can I take my last paycheck stub and file my taxes also when is the IRS gonna start sending the refunds out? I really need it in January. Is that possible?

    Hi Kim!

    Generally, it is encouraged to wait until you receive all tax forms reporting your income from the previous year (W-2s and 1099s). These should be received by the taxpayer by January 31, 2025. That being said, the IRS will begin to accept and process individual tax returns around the end of January 2025.

    Although your paystub should reflect the information in your W-2, I'd wait until you receive your W-2. The IRS will begin accepting e-filed returns mid-January and begin processing them at the very end of the month - at this point, most employers will have sent their W-2s out with a deadline of 1/31. The earliest refunds will be sent mid to late February.
