Tax paid on vacation rental

I rented a condo in Florida this past January, February and March and was charged $975 state tax on the agreement. Is this tax deductible for me even though it was out of my home state of Ohio?

Hello,
Thanks for your question.
Unfortunately, the state tax you paid on the condo rental in Florida is not deductible on your federal tax return. State and local sales or lodging taxes on personal expenses, such as vacation rentals, are not eligible for a deduction. However, if the rental was for business purposes, part of the expense may be deductible as a business expense.
