My 2024 taxes (Unemployed, plz review)
This year I was totally Unemployed with some public assistance (cash Assistance and food stamps).
Do I need to attach ( other exhibits and forms to fill) to this year's filing?
Or would I still be filing State and Fed but with "Zeros"?
Confused as this is a FIRST (and likely Last time) in this situation.
Also are there extra forms I need to complete
Any information you can provide would be GREAT!
Thank you!

Hello MrRussell_2024,
Governmental benefit payments from a public welfare fund based on need are not required to be included in your income on your tax return. If you have unemployment income or any other typed of income you may need to file a tax return. Even if you do not have income to report filing a tax return may be a good idea if you qualify for certain deductions or credits, such as the Child Tax Credit if you have qualifying dependent(s). There may also be other situations that required you to file a return. If you do not meet the filing requirements, a return or any other document does not need to be reported.
To determine if a state tax return is required, visit your state's Department of Revenue website. This site will provide information regarding the state's filing requirements.
Use this IRS tool that will help you determine if you need to file a tax return:
