I was wondering if I could deduct home repair projects such as adding a side wall for my property or fixing the roof?

Home repair projects are not considered itemized deductions. However, larger repairs and maintenance that is part of a home improvement project can be added to the adjusted basis for your home.

Adding home improvement project costs to your adjusted basis will reduce your capital gain if you ever sell the home.
