Verifying Identity
So My man filed for recovery rebate back in end of August and managed to get himself arrested last month. IRS sent notice of needing him to verify his identity. I have his state ID his dad has his original SS card and ordered a copy of his birth certificate. He signed and sent back to me IRS form 8821 making me his appointed authorized representative to speak on his behalf. Is that the proper form needed to do this? How do I get this form to IRS?

Form 8821 is the form the IRS requires for official authorization to speak about a taxpayer's tax return with anyone else who is not that taxpayer. It does need to be sent to the IRS to be processed and approved, but this can be done separate from a tax return.
The IRS has a chart on where to send Form 8821 based on where you live! This chart is included on the first page of Form 8821 instructions on the IRS website.
