Does irs contact you directly (mail etc) regarding back taxes. Reason I ask is due to spam calls saying I owe.

    The IRS will only communicate with you via mail. They will not call you.

    Back taxes will be billed to you in a letter to the address on your last return. If you are to receive a refund and you owe back taxes, the IRS will deduct the back taxes from your refund.
