my son with autism turns 17 on 12/21 and the child care credit is gone. Is there another credit I can claim?

If your child is considered disabled, you can continue to claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit for them past age 13. A person is considered disabled for the Child Care and Dependent Care Credit if they are physically or mentally incapable of self-care. This is outlined in IRS pub 503
Additionally, you will be able to continue to claim the Earned Income credit for your child past age 19 if they meet the IRS definition of 'permanently and totally disabled,' which is that they cannot engage in any substantial gainful activity. You can read more about this requirement here.
