If you are participating in the gig economy (where people earn income providing on-demand work, services or goods) then you would report this income directly on a Schedule C as a part of your tax return.

Gig work is certain activity you do to earn income, often through an app or website (digital platform), like:

    • Drive a car for booked rides or deliveries
    • Rent out property or part of it
    • Run errands or complete tasks
    • Sell goods online
    • Rent equipment
    • Provide creative or professional services
    • Provide other temporary, on-demand or freelance work

This income is considered self-employment income. The Schedule C you would report this on is easily located in our software by clicking 'Income' and selecting 'Business Income (Schedule C)' from the drop-down menu. As you fill out the information in this section, you would report the income you made as gross income that was not reported to you on a 1099 form.
