Refund, then recall
In March, 2024 I received a check for $200 from IRS that said 2019 refund.
In December, 2024, I received a bill for taxes owed for 2019 of $200, plus interest.
What do I do?

The notice you received should have instructions for what to do if you disagree with the bill. If you disagree with the bill, the IRS will likely ask you to provide supporting evidence. There should also be a number on the notice that you can call to get more of an explanation on the bill. If there is not a number listed on the notice, you can follow the steps below to reach an IRS agent:
1. Call 800-829-1040.
2. Select 1 for English.
3. Select option 2 for “Personal Income Tax”.
4. Select option 1 for “form, tax history, or payment”.
5. Select option 3 “for all other questions.”
6. Next, press 2 “for all other questions.”
7. Enter your SSN or EIN.
8. Select option 1, and then option 1 again.
9. You will need to hold until you are connected to an IRS rep. The average wait time is 20-30 minutes.
