Hello,
Included in medical expenses are the cost of equipment, supplies, and diagnostic devices needed for the purpose of diagnosing, curing, mitigating, treating, or preventing disease, and for the purpose of affecting any part or function of the body. Medical expenses must be primarily to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental disability or illness. They don't include expenses that are merely beneficial to general health, such as vitamins or a vacation.
So, if the red light therapy device was used to prevent or alleviate a physical disability, the device would be deductible.
