If a person passed away in 2024, but did not have enough income to owe federal tax, should a final return for that person still be filed?

    The IRS does not require a tax return if the taxpayer didn't meet several tests including income. You can follow this website link to complete a series of questions that will provide the answer that a tax return is not required to be filed. Most likely, a tax return will not be necessary in this case.
