Does nontaxable regular Social Security count towards MAGI for IRMAA purposes?

I believe it does not.

    Hello!

The Social Security Administration website states the following are included in the MAGI for IRMAA

    • the beneficiary’s adjusted gross income (AGI) (found on line 11 of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax filing form 1040), plus
    • tax-exempt interest income (line 2a of IRS Form 1040).

Since the nontaxable portion of the social security would typically not be included on line 11 of a tax return, this will generally not be included in the MAGI for IRMAA.

The following link has a bit more information about the MAGI
