If I do not itemize my deductions but take the standard deduction, should I still claim mileage for volunteering and will it be deductible?

    Yes, you can input your mileage for charitable volunteering. There will be an input question in the Donations screen labeled "Mileage for Volunteer Work". Each mile adds $0.14 to your donations total to apply for your Itemized Deductions.

    As for deductibility, your itemized deductions needs to exceed your Standard Deduction. If you choose to apply the Standard Deduction, then your volunteer mileage will not matter.
