My parent lives with me but gets 1200.00 a month in SSI. Can I claim them as a depend

    There are several tests when it comes to claiming an older dependent. The test that you are referring to is Gross Income. Gross Income tests for Taxable (Gross) Income. SSI alone is not taxable to the individual that receives it. You can still claim your parent on your tax return. Here is a good resource test that will confirm this assertion.
