Hello, in my 2023 tax return I claimed tax treaty exemption on form 1040 by entering a negative number on form 1040 line 8 and schedule 1 line 8z (Other Income, Miscellaneous Income). I just realized I need to adjust my income on form 540 (California Resident Income Tax Return) because tax treaty exemption does not apply to CA state tax. I forgot to do so when I filled and want to amend my return.

According to https://www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/2023/2023-540-ca-instructions.html (ctrl-f "tax treaty") I need to add an addition to section A line 1 column C on Schedule CA (540) California Adjustments - Residents. However I can't find this option on FreeTaxUSA. The closest thing I could find is State - Uncommon Adjustments - CA Rare Tax Law Differences - Additions to Income. But none of the three options are suitable in my case. Does anyone know how to add an addition on line 1a on form CA (540)? Or maybe that is not supported?

    It is not supported.

    FreeTaxUSA doesn't currently support making treaty exemptions on state or federal returns.
