New widow - how to update FTUSA account to single filer?

My husband passed in 2023. Last year (2024), I filed "our" 2023 taxes MFJ as usual, using the same FTUSA account that I've been using for several years. No problem there. This year (2025), I will need to file my 2024 taxes as a single taxpayer for the first time. So far, I'm not able to get past the taxpayer info screen, because the dropdown for my husband's death year only shows 2024 and 2025 and the software will not allow me to remove him or advance until I enter his death year. So, my question is - do I have to start a new FTUSA account for myself as a single taxpayer, and, if so, can I/should I somehow link it to our previous MFJ account to preserve the filing history that is stored there? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello bko22,
We are sorry for your loss. Since your spouse's last tax return in 2023 reported him deceased, you need to change the main taxpayer information to yourself.
After updating, you'll proceed to the filing status screen, with your details as the primary taxpayer. For further assistance, please sign into your account and contact Support.
