New to FreeTax
Hello All and happy 2025. I am new to Free Tax and considering using FTUSA for my 2024 filing. My questions are as follows:
- In addition to filing jointly (personal) I have also started an LLC in August 2024. I have been told that there are certain expenses incurred to stand up the LLC that I can claim. Is this accurate?
- If #1 above is correct, does FTUSA allow me to do both together?
- Does FTUSA have live support that can help me do my taxes as opposed to doing them myself for the first time?

Hi chiwaled,
- That is correct. There are expenses that can be claimed when starting an LLC, such as licenses and fees as well as expenses for rent or utilities etc. that were incurred to start up the business.
- We do support filling these expenses for your LLC on your personal return if it is a sole proprietorship. However, if it is a partnership or corporation, we don't support filing the business return. Once you have filed the business return (Form 1065 for partnerships, and Form 1120 or 1120-S for C and S Corporations respectively) you can then file your personal return with us, including the forms you receive from the business return such as Schedule K-1.
- We do have live support available. We offer a Deluxe Support package that you can purchase to chat with a customer support agent, as well as a Pro Support package that allows you to chat with a Tax Pro. The Pro Support package also allows you to schedule a phone appointment with a Pro.

Thank you Rusty, this was very helpful! My LLC is a sole proprietorship so FTUSA would be in scope if I choose.
Cheers,
