I have only used free tax USA one time in 2024 to file my 2023 taxes. I want to use them again this year for my taxes, but here is the thing… I moved and had people helping me that shouldn't have been and really didn't care what things were, if they saw papers they threw them out. I am locked out of my account, I don't remember password or username and my social security number (card) got lost in the move. Help!!! How can I recover my account that has all my info I need? Can't someone ask my security questions to me to see if I can remember them? I don't know what to do. Thanks

Dear Lex1,

I apologize for the issues you are experiencing. To sign into your 2023 account, please navigate to our homepage and select 'Prior Year' at the top of the page. Choose "File 2023 tax return," then click on "Continue 2023 return" and sign in using your username and password. If you do not remember the username and/or password on the account, select Sign in and then Forgot username or password. Enter the information necessary to recover your username and reset your password.

When beginning your 2024 return, you can sign in the 2024 software with your same username and password. It is also possible to view your submitted prior year returns under the 'Account' menu at the top of the screen.
