How do you know if W2 Box 19 local income tax includes SDI or FLI?

I live in NYC and am entering my W2. The software asks, "Do you have any State Disability Insurance (SDI) or Family Leave Insurance (FLI) shown in Box 14 or Box 19 of this W2?" Box 14 is blank and Box 19 has a number but is simply labeled "Local income tax."

How do I know if the local income tax includes SDI or FLI? Should I answer yes or no, and if yes, do I enter the full local income tax amount from box 19?

    Hello 2wen,

In New York, State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI) are not typically included in local income tax. Box 19 on your W-2 is generally used for local income taxes, such as city or county taxes, and not for SDI or FLI.

Since Box 14 is blank and Box 19 is labeled as "Local income tax," it is unlikely that the amount in Box 19 includes SDI or FLI. Therefore, you should answer "no" to the question about having any SDI or FLI shown in Box 14 or Box 19.

If you have any doubts or need further clarification, it might be helpful to check with your employer or payroll department to confirm the details of your W-2.
