The IRS declared me deceased, it's been corrected but they won't send my refund, why?
After filing my taxes on line with FreeTaxUSA, it was rejected by the IRS, saying I was deceased. The IRS, instead of marking my husband deceased, they marked me deceased. I've sent in the proper paperwork to show that I am alive. The IRS apologizes every time I call and have corrected the error, but saids I have to wait at the latest until January 24, 2024 to receive my refund. They say this is because they are waiting to see if anything suspicious turns up on my account. This is very frustrating. Is there is anything I can do at this point besides wait?

Thank you for your efforts to clear this up lefty.
That is an odd situation and remedy on the part of the IRS with your interactions with direct Agents. To help you further is to urge you to contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Center to see if there are other ways that you can receive your refund now that it has been resolved. Since you have taken the time to contact the IRS and talk with live Agents to get your refund, you have the right to contact this center for further assistance. Good Luck!
