Hi Bethany_626,
Sounds like there is a lot going on for you. I'll do my best to provide some easy resources to help you.
Start here to determine your filing status. If your dad is eligible to claim you as his dependent on his tax return, that may limit some credits and deductions you can claim.
Next, I'd recommend you use this to answer questions about claiming your girls as your dependents.
Generally speaking, you have to provide more than 50% of financial support for your children to claim them as your dependents and they have to live with you for more than half the year. Only one person can claim the tax benefits related to a dependent child who meets the qualifying child rules.
Here's an article on this topic in our Community.
One last thought, if you're not eligible to claim your girls on your tax return, and your dad, their grandpa is, he may need to sign Form 8332, Release/Revocation of Release of Claim to Exemption for Child by Custodial Parent, in order for you to claim your girls on your tax return.
