Married but living and working separately in CA and Georgia

My spouse and I got married this year but we have been working and living separately in California and Georgia. Since California is a community property state, we are trying to file jointly for both federal and state. How would we go about doing that through FreeTaxUSA? Or would it be better to file jointly for federal and California while separately for Georgia?
Thank you!

Hi Daisies,
Your best option would be: File jointly for federal and California while separately for Georgia. However, file as a nonresident on your CA return so you can allocate your CA source income to be taxed by CA.
Then create a 2nd account for GA as Married Filing Separately. Only report your spouse's income. You must select to Mail the federal return. Then print and mail only the GA return.
