How to Create a New Freetaxusa account for deceased person?

I am a freetaxusa.com user and already have an account. One of my family members passed away in 2025 and didn't file their 2024 return before passing. I'd like to file their return using freetaxusa.com, but I'm not sure how I can create an account for them since I don't know their email address. How do you suggest I create an account without having access to this?

    Hi,

Yes, you can create multiple, different accounts to prepare tax returns under your (the same) email.

    Hi jlartch,

Create a new account with your email address and mobile number for 2-step authentication. When you fill out the Taxpayer Information page, answer Yes to the question that they passed away and enter the date of death. The date of death will be printed on the front of the Form 1040.

You may be able to e-file if you have a 2023 return since you will have access to their prior year AGI on it. Otherwise, you must print and sign it as the executor on behalf of the deceased and mail it in.

I already have an account created with my email for my own return. How do I create an account for a deceased person when I don’t have access to their email? Can I file multiple, different tax returns under my email?
