Multiple states filing question

My spouse and I lived in VA for a few months and then NJ for the rest of the year in 2024. During the entire calendar year, my spouse worked for a company in NYC so taxes were withheld in NY. We are planning on doing MFJ for the federal return. What is the best approach for us in terms of filing our state taxes?

I understand both VA and NJ will be part year resident and NY will be nonresident but do we need to do any sort of MFS so create multiple accounts or can everything be done with just one account?

I found this faq on their site. https://www.freetaxusa.com/answers?faq=4821 My understanding is that since you lived together and had the same state filing status you'd file as MFJ and then just add the states after you've finished the federal section.
