How do I upload last year's taxes from FreeTaxUSA

Hi Everyone! This is the first time I've used this platform to do my taxes and I've been fighting some glitches along the way. For example, how do load the previous year's taxes? I haven't been able to find where to do it & the system never gave me an option to do it when I started my taxes…PLS HELP!!!

Hi needhelp_,

I'm sorry you are having trouble uploading your previous year's tax return. It may be because of how it was filed last year.

You can return to the very beginning of our software by clicking on the "Personal" tab. The first option should be "Import 2023 Return."

Once you have navigated to this page there are 3 options.

If you "Filed online with another service" there will be an option for you to "import my previous tax return." You can then upload the pdf.

If you filed with a CPA or it's your first time filing, there is not an option to upload a pdf. Your personal and other prior year information will need to be entered manually.

If you have moved past the Personal menu, you may not upload a prior year return. IF you want, you can start a new account and do that first.
