IRS has not debited my bank account

Hi,

I filed my Tax return yesterday April 14, and added my bank account information to set up the payment I owed, but the IRS has not debited my bank account as of today ( the deadline). I am concerned they could charge me penalties, I do have the confirmation from FreeTax USA showing I authorized the payment since 04/14, will I face any issues?

same here I was accepted by federal and state. And my pay date was the 14th, and haven’t been charged yet. So idk lol

Hello,

It can take a few days for the IRS/state to take out what is owed. The important thing is that you scheduled a payment on/before the filing deadline. I have even heard of it taking a few weeks after the deadline because of all of the requests they have to process.

If you did use direct debit, you should be able to view your bank information used for it by going to Final Steps -> Check Status / Print Tax Return. Under the federal and state sections, you should be able to view your bank account information and verify that everything is correct. If it is, you should be fine and you do not need to make another payment.
