My state return was messed up by my accountant and needs to be amended

My accountant messed up my state return, was supposed to amend it, but has gone silent. It is for NYS and the longer it goes on the more I owe in interest. I have completed the work myself for the amended 203-x. I want to send it through Freetax USA since that is electronic. But it wants me to enter all my information w2's etc. I have all that done. This is simply just sending in the amended form, that I have completed. Is there anyways to electronically do this?

Hi robfromtc, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with your state tax return. If you want to file the amended NYS return on your own, we can help you prepare that. However, I'm afraid you likely won't be able to e-file. E-file is only an option with our software if you are also filing the federal return from within the same account.

If you don't need to file a federal amendment, then the only way to submit just the NYS amendment would be to choose mail as your filing method. After finalizing the amendment, you would print and mail the NY forms following the instructions provided by the software. You can simply disregard the federal mailing instructions if a federal amendment isn't needed.
