Ex filed MFJ without my consent

I recently found out that my ex filed married filing joint for my 2024 taxes. My divorce was finalized in 2025 and our divorce decree has our data separation as February 2023.

Things are so chaotic that when I received a bill from the IRS I ended up paying it thinking that it was taxes I owed from previous years.

I feel like he did this as a control tactic. I filled out a fraudulent form since I never gave consent.

I do live in a community property state however we were separated. Any insight would be great.

One thing you may want to consider is filing for Innocent Spouse Relief. You are allowed to do so up to two years after receiving an IRS notice of an audit or taxes owed due to an error on your return.
