Recalculate submitted return

Hi,

I submitted my return a couple of days ago and it's been received by the IRS. I just got another 1099R in the mail today 2/2/26, and I'd like to recalculate my taxes. FreeTaxUSA says that I can't submit an ammended return until February (don't know when in Feb). I'd rather wait until my return is processed anyway before I ammend it. Is there a way I can recalculate my taxes without permanently changing anything?

    You’re fine to wait. Once the IRS finishes processing your original return, FreeTaxUSA will let you amend it later in February. There isn’t a true “sandbox” mode, but you can view what the amended return would look like without filing it, nothing is sent unless you actually submit the amendment. Waiting until the original return is fully processed is usually the safest move anyway.
