How to file my state return

spouse 1 lived in nyc for most of the year and didn't have any income then moved to upstate, spouse 2 lived in upstate for the full year and she had all the income, could i just file joint and skip the city info? or what's the best way to file?

    HI YMKT,

    I would not recommend skipping the city section even though no income was earned in NYC by either spouse.

    As you prepare your NY state return, you will have the option to answer questions about your NY City Residency on the "What's your New York City residency status?" page. Spouse 1, would be a part-year NYC resident while Spouse 2 would be a nonresident of NYC.
