How should I process two W-2s from the same employer?

I had received two W-2 forms from my company for this tax season. I believe one was from my time as an hourly employee early last year and and the second is for my time as a salaried employee from the second half until the end of last year. They have the same EID number. Should I add the numbers for each box to enter them into the tax return?

Hello BNoble! You'll need to enter both W-2 forms separately into your tax return, exactly as they appear on each form. Don't add the numbers together. The IRS is expecting to receive both W-2s from your employer, and they need to match what you report on your return.

Simply add each W-2 as a separate entry when you're in the W-2 section of your return.

This is common when employees have a status change during the year, like your transition from hourly to salaried. Your employer issued separate forms to track each period of employment.
