Hi! my situation is a little silly! I filed my taxes here on free tax and forgot to file a w2, since I have multiple jobs. I amended it but now I owe way more money then expected. I went to turbo tax and I was getting money back with all the same info. how is it different between the websites. if I filed originally here on free tax am I obligated to submit the amended one here? My tax returns were already accepted. please help! I'm getting married next week and cant stress this!

    Hello Elaina,

When filing an amended return, the software takes into account your previous filing and any refunds previously reported to the IRS.

If in your orginal filing you were due a refund, your amended return may calulate that you owe this refund back or lower your amended refund by this amount. Since your original refund is already being processed by the IRS.

If what you did on Turbo Tax was fill out your return as it should have been done, this original refund would not be included and would not be the correct way to fix your situation.

That is most likely the difference you are seeing between the softwares. You do not have to amend your return in the same place you filed originally, but you will want to make sure you are filing an amended return with your orignally filed return amounts included.

I recommend you contact either customer or pro support and we would be happy to help you finish your amended filing and answer any other questions.

    Congratulations by the way!
