Do you have to mail in 1099 B with your tax return? If so, how would you send it when filing electronically?

    Hello CHAS,

    When you file your tax return electronically, you generally do not need to mail your 1099-B to the IRS. The information from your 1099-B is entered into your return and transmitted electronically when you e-file. In some situations, such as where the basis has not been reported to the IRS, you will need to attach a summary statement to your return in the software so that the IRS can verify the information entered on the return. The software will inform you if this is the case.
